Max Days

Like a weight loss journey, gaining strength must be measured to determine if what you are doing is working. Like in weight loss you need a starting point. To accomplish this, a max day is perfect. There are many ways for determining your 1 rep max (one repetition maximum weight) for an exercise. You can do an internet search for formulas that take your three, five or ten rep max and calculate it for a 1 rep max. Those formulas only give you a rough guess and can be off by a lot. To get a true 1 rep max, you must push until you can no longer complete the exercise for one repetition. You can do this on your own (with a spotter) or with a group. We here at Howe to Lift prefer the group setting because of the positive atmosphere we generate. We encourage and support each other to do our best. You may feel more comfortable starting off with your own personal max day and joining the group at another time. It is all about your comfort level.
